Life constantly invites us into a dance with change. Autumn transitions, new roles, daily responsibilities, and unforeseen situations mean our internal map requires continuous updating. In the ‘Someone To Talk To’ space, we believe that adaptation does not have to mean struggle or forcing oneself into superhuman effort. Rather, it is an invitation to a deeper understanding of oneself and finding a safe haven within.

What Resistance to the New Teaches Us

When change enters, our nervous system often reacts with tension. It is natural for fear of the unknown to appear, alongside a desire to cling tightly to what is familiar and tame. However, instead of judging ourselves for this resistance, it is worth looking at it with tender attention. It is simply information that a part of us needs soothing and reassurance of safety. Awareness of one’s own emotions and working with subconscious beliefs allow us to gently dissolve this internal anxiety.

Space for Growth and Emotional Regulation

True strength is not born from ruthless discipline, but from emotional flexibility. When we care for our mental well-being and give ourselves space for regeneration, daily challenges cease to be an overwhelming burden. Emotional regulation, mindfulness of one’s own needs, and self-kindness are key elements that help us survive tougher moments without losing touch with our inner spark.

Your Safe Stop on the Path to Balance

You do not have to go through changes alone. At STTT we create a community here based on mindfulness, support, and a deep understanding of human nature. Working with the subconscious, personal development, and daily care for mental hygiene are gifts you can offer yourself.

I invite you to share reflection and discovering new paths of well-being, where every difficulty can become a valuable lesson for the future.

A Counsellor’s Voice

As a counsellor working daily with Polish children and youth in the UK, I often step into a space where two worlds intertwine. I meet young people born here or those who arrived as toddlers. I listen to their stories, fears, dreams, and questions that frequently remain unanswered. With many of them, I work on a foundation that seems simple on the surface yet is often remarkably fragile: a sense of identity.

Lately, within our school community, and the wider Polish community in the UK, a topic has resurfaced that deeply moves me, both as a specialist and as an observer. More often, Polish parents speak to their children at home in English. The motivations vary: a desire to give the child a head start at school, fear of an accent, or… an attempt to learn English alongside the child, as the adults themselves try to navigate a new linguistic reality.

From the perspective of the counselling room, however, I see the flip side of this coin. A side that is rarely discussed at the family dinner table.

‘If my Polish mother speaks to me in English, who am I?’

For a developing child, language is not merely a tool for communication. It is home, the smell of Sunday dinner, the intonation of a mother’s voice, safety, and roots. When a Polish parent consistently addresses their child in English from the very beginning, they unconsciously send a deep and confusing message: ‘My native language isn’t good enough for you’ or ‘My Polishness is something better hidden.’

Children absorb these nuances with their entire being. In my office, I hear heartbreaking questions:

‘Whom do I actually belong to?’

‘Am I Polish if we speak English at home, yet I still feel like an outsider at my British school?’

‘Why does my mother pretend to be someone she isn’t?’

This breeds a profound crisis of belonging. A young person begins to feel suspended in a vacuum. In British society, they may be perceived through the lens of otherness, while at home, deprived of natural, living contact with a heritage that could be their greatest strength and support, they drift. Polish Saturday Schools often become the only place where this connection can be rebuilt, but the effort is infinitely harder when the domestic foundation has been undermined.

Without Judgment, with Deep Care

I write this not to judge anyone. As a counsellor, I deeply understand the pressures of migration. I know how hard it is to find your footing in a foreign country, how intensely you wish for a better, easier start for your children, free from the barriers we ourselves faced. I understand parents who want to practice English or feel that English sounds ‘safer’ in the British public space.

Yet, I want to invite you to reflect. The Polish language in your mouth is the greatest gift you can give your children. It is the gift of grounding. A child who knows their native language and is proud of it develops a stable identity. They learn subsequent languages much more easily when they have a firm foundation in their cultural base.

Before you reply to your child in English the next time, consider what lies behind that reflex. Try to return to Polish, your children need your true voices, in your true language.

Let us give them the certainty of knowing who they are and where they come from. Because roots are not a burden… they are wings.

Beata 🤗

There is something we often try not to look at, yet it touches so many of us as the years go by: loneliness.

Psychology points to a painful but vital realization: sometimes the deepest loneliness doesn’t come from having no one around. It comes from the sudden awareness that many of the connections we nurtured for decades weren’t held together by deep love, but simply by routine, shared workplaces, or a sense of duty.

It can feel quite sad, can’t it? When shared workplaces disappear, projects finish, or children grow up, the phone suddenly gets quieter. But at Someone to Talk To, I truly believe that every truth like this – even if it stings at first – is actually a profound gift.

Why?

Because it gives us space. Instead of desperately holding on to what we feel we “should”, we can finally catch our breath and ask ourselves:

✨ Who is genuinely there for me when the bustle of daily life fades away?

✨ With whom is silence comfortable, and conversation genuinely uplifting?

✨ Who do I love for who they are, rather than simply because they happen

The beginning of autumn naturally invites us to slow down, yet the lengthening shadows often bring uninvited thoughts along with them. As the world around us shifts, our mind frequently attempts to protect us in the only way it knows – by generating worst-case scenarios and trying to stay three steps ahead of reality. In moments like these, it is easy to lose touch with the present and feel as though the ground is slipping from beneath our feet. This is a completely natural response of a nervous system that, while searching for predictability, stumbles upon uncertainty.

Why the Subconscious Searches for Threats

Your mind is not doing this out of malice. The subconscious, which holds our habitual reactions, beliefs, and past life experiences, strives above all to ensure our survival. When faced with change, fear arises within it, and the default defence mechanism is to picture the worst possible outcomes. True emotional balance, however, does not come from fighting these thoughts, but from learning how to gently redirect our focus and remind ourselves that, in this very moment, we are safe.

Returning to the Body as the First Step to Calm

Finding an inner haven begins with simple gestures directed toward self-discovery and compassionate presence. Instead of analysing every dark scenario, it is helpful to bring your awareness back to the body, which always resides in the present moment. A deep, quiet exhale, feeling your feet firmly grounded, or the warmth of a hand placed over your chest sends a clear signal to your subconscious that the threat is merely an imagined story, not a real danger here and now. Somatic awareness and mindfulness thus become the first steps toward emotional regulation.

Subtle Work with Beliefs and Hypnotherapy

As you learn to communicate with your subconscious, you discover how deep recovery can be achieved by softening the critical inner voice. Subtle practices, such as hypnotherapy and gentle relaxation techniques, allow us to access deeper layers of beliefs where your natural emotional resilience resides. They help shift the internal narrative from “I can’t handle this” to “I have the resources within me to meet whatever comes.” It is within these quiet spaces that trust in yourself and your experience is gently restored.

Self-Hypnosis Practice: Step by Step

To soothe your subconscious on your own, find a quiet spot, sit comfortably, and close your eyes. Take three deep, slow breaths, allowing your body to soften more and more with each exhale. Turn your attention inward and begin repeating a simple, reassuring phrase in your mind using a slowed, warm voice, such as: “Here and now I am completely safe, my mind is becoming still, and I trust myself.” Imagine a soft, soothing light filling your body with every word, while any imagined worst-case scenarios float away like clouds in the wind. Stay in this state for a few minutes, then count from one to three and gently open your eyes, taking this inner stillness with you into your day.

Your Safe Space in Daily Life

Creating a safe space in daily life requires mindfulness and allowing yourself regular moments of respite. Building a sense of security within yourself is a journey where every small step, every peaceful breath, and every quiet return to the present counts. If you feel that your mind is in need of soothing today and you would like to explore how to return to balance in challenging moments, you are warmly invited to access our free stress management resources to support your path toward deeper peace. Our supportive and mindful community is a space where you can always find room for conversation, personal growth, and reflection at your own gentle pace.

Finding quietness in a busy world. A gentle look at two pathways back to yourself.

I often talk with people who arrive feeling thoroughly worn out. They are tired not only from their daily commitments, but from the relentless chatter of an overactive mind. Many have tried meditation in the past, only to walk away carrying a quiet sense of failure: “I’m just not built for this,” or “My mind is simply too noisy.” Recently, videos showcasing the so-called “47-second technique” have been circulating widely, framed as a breakthrough method that can supposedly replace years of traditional practice. Let us explore this together with patience and understanding.

What Lies Behind This Brief Moment?

The term “47-second technique” owes its popularity to catchy online titles. Beneath the sensational headlines, however, lies no secret magic, but a beautifully condensed essence of long-standing mindfulness practices. It combines a simple grounding in the breath, a gentle shifting of awareness to the space between thoughts, and an inward inquiry: “Who is observing all of this?”

This approach draws directly upon the teachings of Eckhart Tolle, who has long guided us towards the power of staying rooted in the present moment, as well as the self-inquiry traditions taught by Ramana Maharshi. It also echoes structured breathwork, such as Dr Andrew Weil’s well-known 4-7-8 breathing method. Its greatest charm is accessibility: it requires no cushion, no quiet sanctuary, and no spare half-hour. It is merely 47 seconds of soft presence right in the middle of a busy day.

A Quick Pause Versus Continuous Practice

Can a moment lasting under a minute truly be “better” than sitting in traditional silence? Rather than assigning superiority, it is far more helpful to consider how each serves us differently:

Micro-Pause (e.g. 47 Seconds):

Benefits: Provides an immediate anchor during stress, removes pressure, and gently interrupts racing thoughts. Perfect for a quick reset before a difficult conversation.

Limitations: Acts like a quick sip of water – refreshing in the moment, but cannot replace deep rest. It offers little time to process complex, heavy emotions.

Traditional Meditation:

Benefits: Offers a deep reconditioning of the nervous system, builds long-term emotional resilience, and provides a safe space to sit with difficult feelings.

Limitations: Can feel overwhelming when highly overstimulated, requires commitment and time, and may cause frustration if expectations are set too high.

The gentle truth is that a micro-practice does not replace dedicated meditation, just as a quick stretch at your desk does not replace a walk in the woods. Yet both are deeply beneficial gifts to yourself.

Choosing What Serves You Today

If the mere thought of sitting in silence for twenty minutes leaves you feeling anxious, start with just a few seconds. Allow yourself the grace of small steps. You do not need to wage a war against your thoughts or force them to quiet down. Simply noticing, even for a heartbeat, that you are something far more spacious than your immediate worries is enough.

In time, as you feel more grounded and settled within, a natural desire for longer moments of quiet presence may emerge. Remember, when caring for your inner world, there are no tests to pass – only the kindness and gentle attention you deserve every single day.

Every day we make countless decisions. Some are small, while others shape the direction of our lives. But have you ever stopped to ask yourself what truly guides your choices? Are they based on who you really are, or on the expectations of others?

Discovering your identity is not a single event but an ongoing journey. Life experiences, relationships, successes and challenges all influence the person we become. At some point, many of us begin asking deeper questions: What truly matters to me? Which values do I want to live by? What kind of life feels meaningful and authentic?

Our values become an internal compass. When we know what is genuinely important – whether that is family, honesty, kindness, growth, freedom or contribution – we find it easier to make decisions, set healthy boundaries and create a life that feels aligned with who we are. This doesn’t remove life’s challenges, but it often brings greater clarity, emotional balance and a stronger sense of purpose.

The difficulty is that our own voice is not always easy to hear. It can become hidden beneath childhood beliefs, social expectations, fear of judgement or old patterns that no longer serve us. This is where counselling can offer valuable support.

Counselling provides a safe, confidential space to explore your experiences, emotions and patterns of thinking without judgement. It encourages self-awareness and helps you better understand what may be preventing you from living in line with your values.

Where appropriate, hypnotherapy can complement this process. By working with the subconscious mind, it may help you explore long-held beliefs and develop healthier, more supportive ways of thinking. Rather than changing who you are, the aim is to reconnect with the person you have always been beneath limiting beliefs and expectations.

Personal development is not about becoming someone else. It is about becoming more fully yourself. That is why I also offer personal development workshops, wellbeing-focused events and educational resources designed to support emotional regulation, resilience and self-awareness. You can also access free wellbeing resources, together with podcasts and ebooks exploring emotional wellbeing and everyday coping strategies.

Living authentically does not mean living perfectly. It means making choices that reflect your values, treating yourself with compassion and allowing yourself the time and space to grow.

So perhaps today is a good day to ask yourself one simple question:

“Am I living according to my own values, or according to someone else’s expectations?”

If you would like support in exploring your identity, strengthening your emotional wellbeing and developing greater self-awareness, remember that you do not have to do it alone. Sometimes, one conversation is enough to begin a journey towards a more authentic and fulfilling life.

Have you ever felt as though you were stuck in a loop? That despite your best intentions, your efforts, and the endless self-help books on your bedside table, your life keeps returning to the exact same patterns? The same dynamics in relationships, the same morning anxiety, the same invisible glass ceiling you just can’t seem to break through.

From a traditional perspective, it might feel as though “that’s just the way life is.” However, modern neuroscience and quantum metaphysics offer a profoundly different truth: you are not a prisoner of your circumstances. You are simply tuned into a specific radio frequency.

Today, I invite you on a deep, fascinating journey to the intersection of quantum physics, neuroscience, and subconscious transformation. We will explore how the teachings of Dr Joe Dispenza and Vadim Zeland align within the practice of hypnotic trance, allowing you to literally rewire your personal ‘Matrix’.

Why Do We Get Stuck? A Quantum & Neurological Perspective

Dr Joe Dispenza, a leading neuroscientist and researcher of human potential, points out a simple yet radical truth: your personality creates your personal reality.

Most of us wake up every morning and replay the same thoughts, which lead to the same choices, trigger the same behaviours, create the same experiences, and produce the exact same emotional states. By the age of 35, roughly 95% of who we are is a memorised set of subconscious programmes. Memorised habits, automatic emotional reactions, and silent, ingrained beliefs.

From a quantum physics standpoint, the Universe is not hard, unchangeable matter. It is a field of infinite possibilities – a realm of energy and information. When you broadcast the same emotional frequency day after day (such as lack, fear, or unworthiness), the quantum field responds in kind: you attract circumstances that reinforce your internal state.

The Space of Variations & Vadim Zeland’s Transurfing

On the other side of this quantum coin lies Vadim Zeland, a quantum physicist and author of Reality Transurfing. Zeland conceptualises the Universe as the Space of Variations – an infinite data bank containing every possible scenario of your life.

There is a life track where you are vibrant, fulfilled, and deeply at peace. There is another where you struggle with scarcity or self-doubt. Zeland asserts that we do not need to fight or force reality to change. We do not need to manipulate the external world. All we need to do is tune in to a different sector of variations.

So why do we stay stuck on the old track?

We remain hooked on old thought loops (feeding what Zeland calls ‘pendulums’ – external energetic structures that drain our vitality).

We attribute excess importance to outcomes (creating internal tension and ‘excess potential’, which triggers balancing forces that pull us back).

The Quantum Brain: The Role of Hypnotic Trance

How do we bridge the gap between Dispenza’s neuroscience and Zeland’s metaphysics in a practical, everyday way? How do we actually change the radio station when our analytical mind (our inner critic) keeps whispering:

“Be realistic. Look at your bank account/relationship history/age”?

The bridge is the state of hypnotic trance.

In daily life, our brain operates primarily in Beta waves – alert, analytical, but frequently overstimulated or stressed. When I guide a person into a state of deep relaxation and hypnotic trance, their brainwaves naturally slow down into the Alpha and Theta realms.

It is within the Theta state that transformation truly happens:

🔷 Shedding the old identity: As Dispenza puts it, we become “no one, no body, no thing, in no time.” The analytical guard steps aside, opening the doorway directly to the subconscious.

🔷 Lowering importance: In alignment with Zeland’s principles, tension dissolves during trance. There is no struggle, no desperation – only calm, quiet intention.

🔷 Creating new neural pathways: The brain does not distinguish between a vividly imagined experience and a physical reality. When you embody peace, abundance, or healing during deep trance, your brain physically rewires itself, forming new synaptic connections.

What Rewiring Your Matrix Looks Like in Practice

Working with hypnotherapy in my practice is far from magic – it is a gentle, structured, and profoundly safe neuro-spatial process.

When you settle into a comfortable space and allow yourself a moment of stillness, we guide your mind through three key shifts:

🟢 Dismantling Old Programmes (Release): We gently bypass the analytical gatekeeper to locate the root belief that formed your old wiring (e.g. “I’m not safe,” “I have to struggle”). We release the stored emotional tension from the body.

🟢 Reducing Excess Importance: You learn to hold your desires with ease. Instead of anxious grasping (“I desperately need this to work!”), you step into Zeland’s concept of Outer Intention – a quiet, confident knowing, much like walking to the corner shop to pick up a morning paper.

🟢 Installing the New Quantum Signature: In a state of deep trance, your nervous system learns the emotional signature of your future before it physically arrives. You begin to feel the gratitude, ease, and safety now. As your internal state shifts, your subconscious naturally begins to spot new opportunities and make aligned decisions.

Stepping Onto Your New Life Track

You do not have to spend the coming years wrestling with life or trying to force change through sheer willpower. Willpower operates on the conscious level (which accounts for a mere 5% of your mind). True, sustainable transformation happens within the remaining 95%.

The Space of Variations is open, and the possibilities already exist. They are simply waiting for you to align your heart and mind to meet them.

If you feel ready to step away from old scripts and gently reprogramme your subconscious world in a warm, supportive space, I am here to walk alongside you.

Have you ever woken up feeling like daily challenges are starting to overwhelm you, and your internal battery is running low? In the instability of our life experiences, it’s easy to lose sight of what’s most important – our mental well-being and genuine joy in existence.

Today, I invite you to a space of reflection. Together, we’ll explore a figure who embodied emotional balance and lifelong wisdom. Dr. Shigeaki Hinohara – an outstanding Japanese physician who lived to the age of 105, retaining extraordinary mental clarity, emotional resilience, and youthful energy until the very end.

For him, medicine was an art, and humanity was a whole person. As the long-time director of St. Luke’s International Hospital in Tokyo, Dr. Hinohara deeply believed that our physical health is inextricably linked to the subconscious, emotional regulation, and how we treat ourselves daily.

Interestingly, his philosophy aligns almost perfectly with how we work in the Someone To Talk To space. He also believed that the key to regeneration and full strength lies not in strict prohibitions, but in awareness, relaxation, and finding your own inner resources.

Here are 6 beautiful lessons from Dr. Hinohara that can support you in your daily challenges:

Energy comes from well-being, not just from a watch

Dr. Hinohara used to say that true energy doesn’t come solely from the perfect number of hours of sleep or rigorous meals. Look at children: when they’re fascinated by something, they forget about hunger and fatigue. They are driven by pure joy and mindfulness of the present moment. When you nurture your mental well-being and do what truly moves your heart, your body naturally enters a state of harmony and regeneration.

Exercise as a Natural Part of Everyday Life

Longevity doesn’t require exhausting workouts that arouse resistance. The Japanese doctor always chose the stairs over the elevator… even while carrying his own suitcases! It’s a wonderful lesson in prevention: small, daily steps have great power. Consciously choosing movement is the simplest act of caring for your body.

Lightness in the Body, Lightness in the Mind

The doctor noticed that people who enjoy long lives, regardless of nationality, have one thing in common: not being overweight and eating in moderation. However, this isn’t about drastic diets that generate stress. It’s about a deep awareness of what we feed our bodies. The doctor himself chose simple, light meals, taking care of his blood vessels, for example, with a spoonful of olive oil in his morning juice. Taking care of the body is the foundation of emotional stability.

Pain is a mystery – help yourself with attention

For Hinohara, pain (both physical and emotional) was deeply connected to our subconscious. He observed that the worst thing we can do is fixate on suffering. At a hospital in Tokyo, Dr. Hinohara introduced music therapy and animal therapy. He knew that relaxation, art, and redirecting your attention to something beautiful could bring immediate relief and regulate your nervous system.

Find Your Inner Compass

Dr. Hinohara always asked himself, “What would my Father do in this situation?” He was his life’s authority. In working with beliefs, we often seek such safe reference points. Having an internal model allows us to more easily find balance when life’s storms try to throw us off track.

The Second Half of Life as a Time of Giving

Dr. Hinohara believed that until the age of 60, we accumulate resources, work for our families, and achieve our goals. But then comes the time for volunteering and selfless sharing with a community of support. It’s amazing how helping others nourishes our own emotional resilience and gives life a deep, healing meaning.

Invitation to Your Resource

Dr. Hinohara’s philosophy reminds us that personal growth and health care is a gentle process. You don’t need pressure or harsh judgments – you need a space for conversation, self-discovery, and acceptance of your life experiences.

If you feel you need support in regaining emotional balance, I invite you to a safe, empathetic space at Someone To Talk To. Together, we can examine your beliefs, nurture your emotions, and discover your own source of life energy.

Pause for a moment and take a small step towards well-being:

Your well-being is important. Allow yourself a space where you can be heard.

Most of us don’t remember our first steps. Our first day at preschool. The smell of the room where we fell asleep as two-year-olds. And although we sometimes try to “reach back,” we tend to come across images told by family rather than real memories.

Why does this happen?

Scientists have been trying for years to answer the question of so-called childhood amnesia. This phenomenon causes most people to lose memory of events before the age of three or four.

Recent research published by Live Science reveals something very moving: the problem isn’t that young children “can’t remember.” Quite the opposite. Their brains are working at an extraordinary rate during this time.

In the hippocampus (the part of the brain responsible for memory), vast numbers of new neurons are being created. This process is called neurogenesis. And this extraordinary brain plasticity may be the reason why early memories fade.

It’s as if our internal “hard drive” is constantly being rebuilt. New connections help a child learn about the world, language, relationships, and emotions… but in the process, older memory traces are overwritten.

It’s beautiful and sad at the same time. Because it turns out that nature chose development over archiving memories.

A child isn’t meant to collect stories about themselves. They’re meant to absorb life. To learn safety. Closeness. Tones of voice. Tenderness or tension.

And perhaps that’s why, even if we don’t remember specific situations, our body often remembers emotions.

Psychology has long discussed emotional memory; that experiences are recorded not only in images and facts, but also in the nervous system, body reactions, and the way we experience relationships.

We may not remember a specific evening from childhood, but we remember feelings of:

🌿 peace with someone safe,

🌿 tension when we had to “be good,”

🌿 loneliness,

🌿 warmth,

🌿 anxiety,

🌿 relief.

This is precisely why childhood is so important. Not because a child will remember every day. But because their mind and body learn what the world is like.

Is it safe?

Is it possible to feel?

Is it possible to be oneself?

And perhaps this is the most delicate truth about memory: not everything that matters is written down in words.

Some things are written in the heart.
